STEM with Room 3
younger students. This time we had to create a package that would allow a raw egg to survive the impact after being dropped from 2 metres.
We are a class of Year 3 and 4 students at Ahipara School in the Far North of New Zealand.
Room 8 had a lot of fun with team building games to start the year. We learned more about how an effective team works together to achieve more. We learned that we need to listen to people's suggestions and be patient, thinking about what the other team members are doing and how we could contribute. We tried not to do our own thing because that would prevent our team from succeeding in our mission.
Room 8 joined in with the rest of the school for the speech finals at our local Rugby Club rooms. From our class, Keoni was chosen to speak in the Year 4 speeches and Kahurangi was chosen to present her speech in te reo Maori.
We were so proud of them both. Mr Patai presented the certificates and main trophies. He especially acknowledged that 2020 was the first year Ahipara School had speeches in te reo Maori (Maori language). That made the event even more special and indicated a greater level of inclusion in the future. We look forward to next year's speeches.
